Jennifer Salvador has worked for Poudre Valley Health Systems (PVHS) in the Bright Beginnings program for the last two and a half years, first as the Outreach and Volunteer Representative and presently as the Team Leader for the Bright Beginnings program in Larimer County. She is a Certified Child Life Specialist and brings ten years of pediatric hospital-based interventions and developmental knowledge to Bright Beginnings. Jennifer’s favorite Bright Beginnings program to present is Program C. She says “a lively discussion always develops in this class as parents discuss their wonderfully egocentric, curious two year-olds.” Jennifer gets to plant the seed for positive guidance, something she has seen work first- hand as a mother herself. Jennifer graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. with honors in Human Development and Families Studies and maintains her certification as Child Life Specialist.

Janet Werst, Early Childhood Supervisor for PVHS recently wrote “Colorado Bright Beginnings (CBB) is one of many components of Poudre Valley Health System’s well-rounded Community Health Programs, which wouldn’t be complete without it. The CBB program highlights the importance of growth and development in children during their prime learning years (birth to age three) and provides parents with the necessary resources to help their child blossom intellectually, socially, and emotionally. By partnering with community agencies, PVHS is able to reach families and children who would be considered at-risk by the time they reach their school-age years. Bright Beginnings is the key link to starting a child’s educational career off right during the early formative years. The CBB program is a tremendous asset to the health system’s community health program and continuum of care we provide.”

The Bright Beginnings staff at PVHS has been working hard to make additional connections in the community and establish new partnerships in order to reach more families. Their plan is to offer the CBB programs to all families of newborns born at PVHS.
